Founded in 2003 by Steeve “ZUUL” Petit, ZUUL FX develops a modern industrial metal sound where massive guitars, electronics, samples, mechanical rhythms and futuristic aesthetics meet. From the outset, the band built a strong sonic and visual identity at the intersection of metal, technology and post-human imagery.
That identity took shape with By The Cross, the debut album released in 2005, featuring “Nothing Is Real”. It was followed by Live Free Or Die, The Torture Never Stops and Unleashed — four albums that progressively defined the ZUUL FX signature: organic power, industrial tension, science fiction, mutation and reconstruction.
The band quickly moved beyond the French scene. Its music was played on BBC Radio 1 and received support from IRON MAIDEN’s Bruce Dickinson. ZUUL FX toured extensively across Europe and shared bills with SEPULTURA, MACHINE HEAD, ILL NIÑO, TRIVIUM, ANNIHILATOR, FEAR FACTORY, MOTÖRHEAD, HATEBREED, BRUJERIA, PRO-PAIN, NAPALM DEATH, ANTHRAX, SLAYER, GOJIRA and MEGADETH, among others.
Live performance became central to its story: three tours with PRO-PAIN, three Hellfest Mainstage appearances and two appearances at Germany’s With Full Force Festival. At the festival’s 2007 edition, ZUUL FX replaced STATIC-X before approximately 45,000 people, positioned between LAMB OF GOD and KORN.
The band’s international reach was confirmed by two tours of Japan, including one with ENTOMBED. Released in 2015, the Live in Japan DVD/CD documents that period and the band’s live energy.
From its earliest days, ZUUL FX has explored the relationship between humanity and technology. That reflection continues through H+, a concept imagined in 2001 and developed across three forms — METAL, ELECTRO SYNTHWAVE and ELECTRO ACOUSTIC. H+ explores transhumanism, artificial intelligence, medicine, human augmentation and the technological mutations of contemporary society. “The Matriark of Tron”, “A.I.” and “Blood” are its first published chapters.
The ZUUL FX story also connects with Max and Igor Cavalera: Steeve “ZUUL” Petit was invited to perform “Roots Bloody Roots” with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY at Hellfest in 2008 and at the Bataclan in 2011.
In 2026, ZUUL FX opens a new cycle. “Nothing Is Real (2026 Variation)” revisits the foundational By The Cross track, bridging the band’s early years with a more electronic, industrial and contemporary direction. The live return at Furios Fest 2026 begins a new campaign, while a fifth album built around the H+ universe is targeted for 2027.
ZUUL FX is not looking to recreate its past. The band is using more than twenty years of albums, touring, imagery and collaborations to build a new artistic phase.
